What you should take to an official source

We cannot make rulings on your specific system, approve permits, or file paperwork. For anything binding, go straight to the people who administer the rules:

• Your county environmental health or land use office. They run the local POWTS maintenance tracking program, send the reminder cards, and keep your system’s records. In Waukesha County that is the Environmental Health Division, see Waukesha County septic systems.
• Wisconsin DSPS. The Department of Safety and Professional Services administers the statewide POWTS program and the code. Start at the DSPS POWTS page.
